SeniorNet
SeniorNet is a national non-profit membership organization,
for people age 50 and over, that is dedicated to building a community
of computer-using seniors. This is accomplished by sponsoring
SeniorNet Learning Centers where courses are offered in computer
applications. SeniorNet also offers an Online facility for member
communications and information exchange and provides additional
help by publishing educational material.

Cypress SeniorNet Learning Center of San Jose
Cypress of San Jose is located at the Cypress Senior Center,
403 S. Cypress Ave., San Jose, CA. 95117. The center is located on Cypress

Fifteen (15) IBM compatible computers, plus the instructor's
computer (all equipped with flat panel screens) are used in a dedicated classroom for instructional and lab use purposes. A large TV projection screen displays the contents of the instructor's monitor so that the student can follow along. When classes are not being taught, members can use the computers and receive some additional help from the lab coaches.

Cypress Courses
Most of the courses are two hours in length, one day a week
for either four week mini courses or standard eight week courses. Currently, Cypress is offering classes at 9:30am to
11:30am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Schedules for these classes will vary for each eight week session, so please
check the current class and future schedules for dates and times.
Courses range from the Introduction to Computers where no
computer knowledge nor skill is required to Intermediate/Advanced
courses. The Intermediate/Advanced courses include the Internet,
Spreadsheet, Database, Windows Vista, Quicken, Digital Photos, Graphics and
Scanning and Word Processing. The Intermediate/Advanced
courses are limited to members who have completed the Introduction
to Computers course or have equivalent experience. Some Intermediate/Advanced
classes will require additional prerequisites. Check the Description of Courses and/or your registration
notice for this information.
Courses such as Buying a Computer and others are offered
free to members as the need is determined. To see what classes

Application to SNLC
For on line appications form click link Mailing List Request Form
at this Web site, or by completing the form
at the Cypress Senior Center between 9.00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday
through Friday. Hard copy applications must be received in the
Cypress Senior Center office no later than one week prior to
the scheduled mailing date. On-line applications must also be
submitted at least one week prior to the scheduled mailing date.
Once on the mailing list, you will continue to receive class schedules for the current year.

Registration for Classes
If you miss the assigned registration day, call the Cypress
Senior Center (408)244-1353 for information regarding possible
openings remaining in the classes, or view openings on the Future
Classes Page on Cypress Web Site.

Class Fees
Membership in SeniorNet will no longer be required as a prerequisite
for taking classes. Cypress Learning Center's individual courses range
from $35 to $40 dollars.
Class fees will be collected on the day of
registration. Cash or checks are required.
Checks for class fees should be made payable to Cypress Learning Center.
The class fees and descriptions of courses will be shown in the mailer,
also available at the Cypress Senior Center Office.
